This Is Us
Uruguay is where we started.
This is my family history.
My father Jorge Manzanares first immigrated to the United States from Montevideo, Uruguay, a South American country known for its wealth of culture, soccer history and is the second smallest country in South America.
He came to Queens, NY and worked reupholstering furniture at Donghia, a company in Manhattan. When the company downsized he started his own business with his brother and a friend, Emily Nomer. The three worked hard and successfully launched Manzanares Furniture in New York while my mother, Nelly, worked as a seamstress in both Manzanares Furniture and The Flag Co. in PA. During that time, at only 13 years old, I was sad to leave my home, my country, but quickly embraced life in my new home in the United States.
Just like my parents, I became inspired to use my skillsets, start a company and follow my passion to help others.
Karen D. Manzanares, Founder and CEO
Realtor and Law Clerk
After immigrating with my family from Uruguay, South America at age 13, I am proud to have lived and worked in the Upper Merion community for three decades.
My passion for the Legal field began as an intern at the office of Chief Counsel while still at Upper Merion High School. I continued my education at Villanova University and then spent 22 years as a law clerk for the Governor’s Office, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Chief Counsel in King of Prussia.
Through my extensive law clerk experience, I assisted with eminent domain cases. I have not only seen the growth and changes, but was directly involved in litigation working with PennDOT attorneys, engineers, appraisers, and other public representatives in charges of planning and developing community improvement projects.
Adding Realtor® to my resume has allowed me to further serve the Upper Merion community and assist homeowners in selling, buying, and also managing rental properties. Throughout the process, I look to educate homebuyers and sellers and effectively market the team’s listings.
My dedication, business knowledge, and experience paired with my legal background me uniquely qualified to help you with your needs.
I am proud to be a member of the Board of The Montgomery County Paralegal Association and the Montgomery County Association of Realtors.
